--Will insurance cover Naturopathic Medicine?

Insurance coverage for Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, and lab work is variable, and not guaranteed. The best advice is for you to understand your insurance benefits. Please contact your insurance company and check on the following for your particular coverage.  Here are some questions you may want to ask your insurance company:

Do you have coverage for Naturopathic Medicine or Acupuncture visits? If so, what portion is your responsibility (ie 20% of the visit cost).

Do you have a deductible that needs to be met? If so, how much of the deductible have you met this year?

Do you have a flexible spending account attached to you insurance?

If you have insurance coverage, do you have a co-pay?

If you have coverage, is there a limit on the number of covered visits per year?

If you have coverage do you have the option to go to an in-network vs. on an out of network provider?

Do you need to have a referral to see a Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncturist, or for Hypnotherapy?

Do you need preauthorization for any of the above?

For lab work, does your insurance cover for labs either screening, preventative or diagnostic lab coverage?

Do you have to go to a particular lab to have labs covered? (is the lab in network or not). If so, which labs do you need to go to?

Does your PCP need to order the labs in order for them to be covered, or can any provider order the labs?

Do you have a deductible that needs to be met before labs are covered?

Do you have to pay any co-insurance on the lab work?
